Troop,
With the 4th of July falling on a Tuesday we will not have a meeting that evening so everyone can spend time with friends and family celebrating the birth of this great nation.
With that being said, we do still have Flags going on in the morning and are still looking for more help. Show your citizenship to our country and community and devotion to the troop by signing up and helping us make our neighborhoods red, white, and bluetastic!

GETTING TO AND FROM CAMP:
– Meet at Barn at 1:30pm Sunday, 7/9 for a 2pm departure (see sign up below for carpooling)
– Scouts need to eat lunch beforehand, dinner at Camp A will be provided
– Last check out the following Saturday (7/15) is at 8:15am so drivers should plan to pick up scouts by 8am or the night before (see below). Once drivers have reception, they can send ETA updates.
FAMILY NIGHT
One of the highlights at Camp Alexander is Friday Family Night. Friends and family are welcome to join in the fun and spirit on Friday afternoon as the scouts participate in camp wide events. At 5:15 PM the camp will have its final assembly, with Scouts dressed in full field uniform. Awards and rank recognitions will be presented at this time. Be sure to have cameras ready to capture the great moments. Friday evening meal tickets are sold at the Business Office at $10 and must be purchased prior to dining.
There is no charge for the Scouts and leaders in attendance at camp during the week as the cost is already included in the camp fee. The closing campfire, performed by the Scouts, will begin at approximately 7:45 PM and should conclude by 9:30 PM.
If there is enough interest in family night and bringing your scout home with you after we might plan to have the whole troop check out on Friday night. Please indicate that on the sign up below. Mike will need to leave Friday night anyway for a memorial service Saturday morning.

MORE CAMP SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
Go to the Camp A website, click on “Program” and then “Camp A Leader’s Guide” which is full of helpful info and a daily schedule.
We are getting close! We still need one more driver, a few navigators AND THREE SCOUTS! We could probably do flags with out nav’s, although not fair to the drivers, but we need SCOUTS. We had some Girl Scouts volunteer but I’m sure we can fill these spots within the troop. If you need a ride we can arrange that also. If you are new, I will pair you with an experienced scout. If you are ranking up, especially our Eagle Scouts, please help us out. It looks good to the board:}

Hi Troop!
Sorry for the last-minute note. We are going to go over some scout camp items and hopefully play a few games. Wear Class B (or comfortable clothes) for fun activities. If you can’t make it, we understand that summer is a busy time for everyone.

Welcome home scouts from Northern Tier.
At this time we have only 2 scouts signed up to do flags on the 4th of July out of 40 something scouts. I will be gone this weekend also and very tired on Tuesday but I also understand how important this is to our troop. Please consider signing up for a position.

Flag day is tomorrow and we still have a few slots available. Please help us out. It’s just a few hours and the pay is good and a great way to give back to your troop. I know Northern Tier was expensive, maybe you want to earn a few bucks towards it???? Let me know if you could even do half a shift.

Friday, June 16th to Sunday, June 18
This is a 16 mile round trip hike. We will do 8 miles on Saturday and 8 out on Sunday. Please sign up your scout if he is interested. Please also sign up if you are able to drive scouts to or from the trailhead.
Plan: Meet at barn and drive to Stillwater Campground (sites B005 and B006) on Friday, 16 June. Camp overnight then drive to Monarch Lake Trailhead (30 min) morning of 17 June. Park at trailhead and hike to Crater Lake via Cascade Creek Trail (8 miles). Camp at Crater Lake (reserved group site) Saturday, 17 June and explore area. Hike out morning of 18 June and drive back to barn.
Flag day is this Saturday! We still need 2 more Scouts and parents to help us out. Please consider signing up. We have some Scouts that have not done flags before. You will be paired up with seasoned Scouts to show you the ropes. It’s a great way for Scouts to earn their own money.

I have had some requests for COH programs from previous ceremonies so I decided to post a handful of them here. Going forward I will post them as we go as well.
Hello, Troop,
Tonight we will meet at the barn. With the recent rains we can have a small fire and have some American Flags we can retire. Be sure to be in Class A Uniform.
For those that are not attending Northern Tier, we will be doing some meal planning and prep for the backpacking trip happening on the weekend of 6/17.
This week we will be the final meeting for a Northern Tier before we leave next Monday. Northern Tier folks, bring all of your gear packed and ready to go since we are doing a full gear shakedown.
Thanks,
Miles
Camp Cards and/or money are due Tuesday, June 6th. If you need more cards, we have them. If you will not be at the meeting next Tuesday please make arrangements to turn them in earlier.

Troop,
Tonight there will be no meeting at the barn! Instead we are conducting the necessary swim tests for those who have registered.
Attire is swim trunks….
The USAFA pool is located at the FITNESS AND SPORTS CENTER 5234 ASPEN DRIVE USAF ACADEMY, CO 80840.
Please arrive at 6:00pm so we can be changed and ready to jump in at 6:30pm sharp.
First, thank you to the Memorial crew for making the first flag day of 5 a success. The first day of the year can take a little longer to find after the winter weather but it should be smooth after this.
Our next Flag Day is coming up quick on June 10th and we are still in need of some sign ups. There are many in our troop that have never had the privilege of putting up flags. Please sign up and we will pair you with an experience scout and adult. This system works best if a scout and adult sign up together.

It’s time again to order t shirts and hoodies so our Scouts look nice for camp and meetings. The only thing that has changed is the upgraded hoody. Last year they were cotton, this year we are back to the high performance material. There are two ways to order. First, is to fill out the attached form, attach a check and give it to Scoutmaster Petree. Second, is to email me your order at fmreiser@gmail.com and pay our treasurer by Zelle, betsydouglass.bsa@gmail.com and let her know it is for shirts. Deadline for orders are May 23rd at the Court of Honor. We should have them back by June 20th.
Thanks,
Maureen Reiser

Hello troop,
This week we will be doing elections and we need as many people to come as possible and vote to represent the whole Troop. Since we have a Court of Honor next week, we will be working on finishing up ranks with Board of Reviews for those who finished their Scout Master Conferences with Mr. Petree last week.
See you there,
Miles
Troop,
I have spoken to the USAFA Fitness Center and arranged access to the pool for the Troop to complete BSA Swim Tests. The Academy said they can accommodate 15 on Tuesday May 30th from 6:30 to 7:30/8:00pm. They are allowing us use free of charge.
Northern Tier participants are a priority as this is a requirement to attend that adventure. I would like to open up the remaining slots to anyone who needs a swim test for a water related merit badge at summer camp or rank advancement. Available slots will be first come, first served. Any additional slots can be for anyone who wants to come out for a little swim.
Please use the signup below. Make sure you put in the notes why you need a swim test so we can make sure we prioritize those who need them. There are 20 slots, but we can only accommodate the 15 most necessary justifications.
