I hope everyone had a great Independence Day!!  Thank you for all of you that helped with flags.  The neighborhood does really appreciate your service!!

This Tuesday we are going to have a committee meeting and a parent meeting to discuss the way forward as well as upcoming trips.

Scouts bring in your handbooks and dress in Class A’s so we can catch up on signing achievements and have a Uniform inspection.

Just a reminder to those signed up to do flags tomorrow for 4th of July – arrival times for the routes are as follows….

AM route – arrival @ 5:30 am to load flags & start by 6:00 am

PM route – arrival @ 5:00pm and start as soon as all your crew has arrived

Please remember not to lock the barn after the morning routes so that those starting in the evening can get in to get the buckets and no one has to wait for me to get there.

We are good to go for Flags! As of Sunday evening, we have enough Scouts and family members for 4 routes in the morning and the evening! It takes awhile to recreate the routes and I do not want to wait until the last minute to get the info out. Therefore, I am asking that no one else sign up for this holiday. Don’t worry, we have two more holidays later in the year that we will still need help with if you haven’t had a chance to do flags! Thank you to all who signed up! We only have two drivers for 4th of July flags in the morning and in the afternoon. We need 5 in the morning and at night. Two makes it very hard to accomplish this task.

Again, this is how the troop pays for all the awards and merit badges and there is a lot that will be awarded after summer camp.  Everyone one benefits from this programs so its really important that everyone helps out. Last time we only had three drivers in the morning. We also need navigators for everyone. This is a great time to have coffee with your spouse or another scout parent for bonding 🙂

Please sign up. Only a few of us did all the routes last time and its a little exhausting. Working as a team enables us to do all the routes efficiently and not take up the entire day.

Also, Please no one else sign their scout up unless we get more drivers. We just don’t have the seat belts with two cars and will be forced to ask scouts to drop out.

Hi Troop,

Since we just got back from Summer camp and many of the scouts are pretty tired still we are going to have a Scout Master only to discuss the way forward for our Troop, address issues and Plan.

The Meeting will be at 7pm at Mrs. Johnston’s house located at 7455 Winding Oaks Dr, 80919.

I encourage all ASMs to attend.

I will also fill out all the Blue Cards our from Summer Camp. Many scouts should be really close to their next Rank.  The rest of the summer should focus on completed these few remaining requirements before the next COH in August….along with some fun camping 🙂

Folks,

We made it to the middle of the week and I just wanted to send a little update letting you know that all the scouts are still alive and well….at least for now 🙂  Some are a little scratched and bruised but they’re boys! It’s been really hot during the days but the nights have been awesome for sleeping.  These boys are going non-stop! I’m willing to bet they will be exhausted when they come home.

The first year scouts are doing well.  They have been enjoying their rank advancement activities and are on their overnighter tonight.  It’s super cool getting to know them and I love their positive attitude towards everything. We did a 5k run on camp and Riley, Mark and Jacob were the only scouts that would run it with me!….it was at 515am though 🙂

Anders, Ignacio, Even and Cody are loving the Canoeing Merit badge because they get to hang out in the pond all afternoon. Rhett, Avery and Preston and sharpening their aim on the rifle range every day. Daniel, Ignacio and Jack are getting their science on between their Nuclear Science and Space Exploration Merit Badges (be nice to these two because we might be working for them some day or they might save the planet!) Lance and Devyn focused on Eagle Merit Badges and Movie Making.

The Cadre are super cool here and have been scouting using a Knights of the Round Table Theme and they have been a lot of fun! The camp guide assigned to us comes to our camp every day and plays with the scouts.

The food is really good here too….I’m getting kinda fat! ….oh, and remember when I said the scouts would spend most of their money on candy and soda?….ummm, yep…it happened 🙂

So the internet is really slow and intermittent here. I can send a text or check an email but I am not really able to send photos. However I am taking them and will post them all at the end of the trip.

We are all set for summer camp! Just a reminder to be at the church on Sunday at NOON.  We must check out of Camp on Saturday the 24th at 10am and need volunteers to help drive the scouts back to the Church. Most likely we will be back at the church by 10 and would need drivers to come to camp around 830am.

I have all the paperwork. If I found something missing then I should have contacted you directly. Thank you to all the parents that worked hard to get all those physicals and paperwork done.

I sent an email to all the ASMs.   Right now I do not have an Adult to stay over night at Summer Camp on Sunday.  This means we cannot check in to summer camp until I have an adult. I hope everyone understands this. The Adult has to have the Scout Physical.

The last night of camp is a time for families to come down and enjoy the beautiful camp we call home. Families are welcome to join us for dinner in the William R. Kephart Dining Hall between 4:30-6:30 p.m on Friday the 23rd. After dinner, there will be a fantastic flag ceremony, and an end of the week slide show produced by the Hollywood Lodge. After this is another wonderful Camp Cris Dobbins Staff Campfire, to close out the week!

It will be on Friday the 23rd from 430-630 however you can come earlier if you’d like.

The cost is $8.50 for each meal and you can pay when you check in at the camp.

I need to let the camp know how many will come by Wednesday so please sign up before then.

Good Morning,

Morning shift went off without a hitch despite being 2 drivers short! We got an early start at 0530 and all flags were out by 0900! Yay team! Great job & Thank you to all those who participated in the morning!

We are still 1 driver short in the pm so Sean & I & our team are getting started a little early since we have to cover 2 routes and won’t be at the barn when you get there. Everyone else please meet at the barn at 5:30pm. Clipboards with assignments are in the buckets. Please do not leave until your team is complete. Attached is the list for Flags for Flag Day tomorrow. Unfortunately, there are no assignments since we do not have enough people for either shift. WE ARE IN DIRE STRAITS FOR THE AM SHIFT! We only have 2 drivers which means each car will have to do about 125 flags. In addition, each car can only carry 2- 3 Scouts. We can use Scouts as navigators so filling the driver slots are most important! So please if you are able to drive, please, please, please sign up to help! This is our last Tuesday prior to summer camp and I would like to have one final meeting.  If possible, I would like all summer camp scouts to attend and at least one parent for the first part of the meeting. We need to make sure we have all the required paperwork and basic packing list. We are also going over the schedule, meds, emergency contact procedures and everything else….

Here are some other tidbits:

• Cots are not provided at this camp. Scouts must bring their own or bring a sleeping pad. I didn’t see rental either. So scouts must bring their own cot or sleeping pad.
• There is a family night on Friday at 4pm. Parents are encouraged to come to see the final skits and campfire ceremony.
• Scouts should have a little spending money for the Trading Post. Usually $20 will do it. They usually spend it all on candy 🙂
• Summer camps have mosquitos for some magical reason. Scouts should bring bug spray.
• I would like all scouts to have at least one nalgene bottle as their method of hydrating, Its easier to judge how much water they drank.

We have Flag day on Wednesday and we are hurting on scouts and drivers….only two for the morning! This makes doing these fund raisers very tough.  I know this is a work day and its tough to get out there but the community and the troop is relying on your good will!

This Tuesday we are going to do a couple of things.  First we are going to finish up the cooking merit badge.  The only achievement was to make a backpacking meal using a camp stove.  Bring something to cook up in the Jet Boil stove, show you know how to work the stove and cook the meal. Bring your mess kit to eat the meal with. The meal should be fairly simple and able to be heated simply by boiling water.

We will also be working on getting ready for summer camp. Please bring your BSA Physical Form and any additional paperwork if you have it. The Colorado Addendum form is required as well. Both of these forms can be found at the top of the website under Summer Camp 2017.  The packing list is located there as well. Start putting all that stuff together.  The 13th will be the final night to turn in all paperwork and we will go through the Summer Camp packing list. Hi Folks,

We had a great Memorial Flag Day! I really appreciate everyone who signed up to do the routes. Our next holiday is Flag Day on June 14th. This one is a bit tricky since it lands on a work day and several of us have to work. With that being said, I just wanted to reach out because I know a couple of people have expressed an interest in taking over the Flag Coordinator position. I just received the list for Flag Day & I will be at tomorrow’s meeting with everything needed to start training someone for this position. This would be a great time to take over because right after Flag Day, 4th of July comes around and it will be good training to do both those holidays so close together.

Please come to the Church and celebrate our own Scott Jirous’s accomplishment of earning the rank of Eagle Scout.  Scout has been with the troop for many years.  He embodies all the the positive traits of scouting….good citizenship, athleticism, academics and community service.

We need some scouts to participate in the ceremony as well….there will be cake 🙂
